THE LIFE SAVING
SOAP OPERAS.

In Peru, thousands of people are waiting for an organ transplant that may never come. The country has one of the lowest organ donation rates in Latin America. The challenge wasn’t simply to find more donors. It was to make millions of people understand that organ donation can actually save a life. And we found an opportunity in an unexpected place: television. Peruvian soap operas have some of the largest audiences in the region. They are stories that millions of people follow, characters they connect with, and worlds that become part of everyday conversation. So we did something that had never been done before. We created an organ donation between two different soap operas. Yair, one of the main characters in «Ojitos Hechiceros 2», died and donated his kidney to Lorenzo, the protagonist of «Señores Papis», saving his life. Two stories that had never been connected came together through an act of organ donation. What looked like a fictional crossover became a real demonstration of how organ donation works. Millions of people didn’t just watch a character they loved die. They saw how his death could give someone else a second chance at life. The story left the screen and became part of a national conversation. We reached approximately 8.5 million women, generated more than $5 million in earned media, and in just one week, the number of organ donors in Peru increased by 200%. But the most important result didn’t happen on television. Within days, the campaign helped 11 patients receive transplants and continue living. Because when a story makes people not only feel something, but change something in the real world, entertainment stops being just entertainment.
